We are still cleaning up from THE ICE STORM 2009. My beautifil pecan trees and the black walnut trees took a beating---hope they survive.
I am still picking up pecans. This is the biggest harvest I have ever had here. Hopefully I will get them all picked out and in the freezer. It will be several years before the trees produce again, I am thinking.

Missing Daughter
I am sitting here on my front porch, missing my daughter. It has been 3 months since my firstborn daughter died. I was her caregiver so long that I can't even think of what to do now. I have been 3 months putting up and cleaning a 2 year neglected home. I don't seem to be any farther along then when I began. I know that my Lord is taking care of me and holding my hand as I walk on this journey.
"Happy times and bygone days are never lost.... In truth, they grow more wonderful within the heart that keeps them." Kay Andrew
I am going to try to finish her quilts she had started and learn to use her embroidry machine. But mostly I sit and read or crochet.

Front porch thoughts for winter
What happens when we live Gods way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard-------Things like affection for others, exurberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people.
